Rena Fukazawa

Rena Fukazawa is an activist poet in Japan. Her first collection, It Might Not Be Painful (痛くないかもしれません) was published in 2017 from Shichigatsudo, followed by In the Country of the Lost Things (失われたものたちの国で, Shoshi-Kankanbou, 2018). Her works, both essays and poems, have been widely published and anthologized, including Hidden Authors (ヒドゥン・オーサーズ, P-and-W books, 2017) and The Girls in the Dark (ガール・イン・ザ・ダーク, Kodansha, 2018). She is now preparing for her third collection, Listening to the Sea (海を聴く). She is a founder of an organization, ‘Stop Overlooking Harassments on Campus’, tackling sexual abuses and harassments in academia since 2020. She is also a vegan fighting against ‘veganphobia’ in Japan.

Martín Espada

Martín Espada has published more than twenty books as a poet, editor, essayist and translator. His latest book of poems is called Floaters, winner of the 2021 National Book Award. A former tenant lawyer in Greater Boston, Espada is a professor of English at the University of Massachusetts-Amherst.

Desmond Kon

DESMOND Francis Xavier KON Zhicheng-Mingdé (b. 1971) is the author of an epistolary novel, a quasi-memoir, two lyric essay monographs, four hybrid works, nine poetry collections, and a creative guided journal.

 

A former journalist, he has also edited over twenty-five books. He trained in publishing at Stanford University, and did postgraduate studies in theology at Harvard University and creative writing at the University of Notre Dame. 

In addition to grants from the National Arts Council and Singapore International Foundation, Desmond has enjoyed literary appointments at the Notre Dame Poetry Fellowship, NAC Gardens by the Bay Writing Residency, and NTU-NAC Creative Writing Residency. Among other accolades, Desmond is the recipient of the IBPA Benjamin Franklin Award, Illumination Christian Book Award, National Indie Excellence Book Award, Singapore Literature Prize, Poetry World Cup, two Independent Publisher Book Awards, and four Living Now Book Awards.
