Publishing your first collection with Tricia Dearborn

Perhaps you’ve written a book’s worth of poems … or you aspire to … or you’ve put together a collection but don’t have a publisher yet. This workshop will cover the many and multifarious aspects involved in creating a first collection of poetry. You’ll gain useful information and practical advice on: strategies for revising your poetry; getting and making use of critical feedback; submitting to journals and competitions; structuring (and restructuring) a collection; researching publishers, and considering self-publishing; and applying for grants and residencies to support your writing. There will be opportunities for questions and discussion. Award-winning poet and editor Tricia Dearborn has published three full-length collections and a chapbook, and has experience assessing and editing other poets’ manuscripts. First collections will be the primary focus of the workshop, but all poets are welcome.
