The Slow Train Forward

by
Andrew Melrose

I'll save the judgement

for another day, now

is a step at a time, a slow train

forward. Next week I'll go

see the Warhol exhibition, maybe

eat in Borough Market,

drink a beer by the fast

flowing, murky Thames;

look out over St Paul's.

I won't look back,

not even out of the corner

of my eye. The future isn't what it used to be

but I'm getting used to it.
