Well-Known Corners of the People

Contain

by
Lisa Collyer

I am a bowl

etched in bamboo culms, clump and contain

the forest he ran through

when you were his Takeuma.

I cradle you,

porridge and pickled plums; recall

the whistling grass and cherish something

to hold onto.

*Takeuma – Japanese traditional toy, i.e. bamboo stilts
